What is Art Recess?

Art Recess is a structured, creative break during the school day where students explore art through hands-on projects. Projects are inspired by notable artists and allow kids to play with key art concepts like line, shape, color, texture and contrast. The program emphasizes creativity and is accessible to all students.

How much does the Program Cost?

The cost for Art Recess is $8,500 for 8 sessions.

How many students can participate?

Art Recess accommodates up to 150 students per session cycle. However, we can adjust pricing if you need to accommodate more students.

How are students organized?

Students rotate through the program in groups of approximately 50 students at a time during their longest lunch recess.

  • Kindergarten

  • 1st-3rd grades

  • 4th-6th grades

    This rotation allows for manageable groups sizes and meaningful engagement.

How is Art Recess Funded?

Art Recess can be funded through:

  • PTA/PTO organizations

  • Title 1 Funds

  • Proposition 28

  • School site discretionary funds

What happens during a session?

Each session includes:

  • A short introduction to an artist or art concept.

  • A guided art activity

  • Opportunities for creative freedom and personal expression.

Who leads the Program?

Sessions are facilitated by 2 PTA parent volunteers. Additional parent volunteers can rotate in at each grade level.
